WILMINGTON -- Four-time world champion Magnus Ver Magnusson will be among the competitors in the Strongest Man Alive Championship on Friday at the Lagoon in Essington, Pa., and Saturday before and after the Blue Rocks' game at Frawley Stadium.

Eight pro strongmen will square off, with $18,000 in cash and prizes on the line.

The championship will feature five events, with two at the Lagoon starting Friday at 8:30 p.m. - the Overhead Leg Lift and Conan's Wheel, in which competitors must pick up a 700-pound pendulum and carry it around in a circle for distance.

The other three events will be on Saturday at Frawley Stadium. The first two - the Mustang Expediting Truck Pull and the Pacifico Ford Pickup Truck Dead Lift - will take place in the parking lot at 4 p.m. The final event - the Atlas Stones Challenge - will be in the stadium after the game before a fireworks display.

In addition to Magnusson, other athletes competing include Philadelphia-area native Walt Gogola, Karl Gillingham, Steve Kirit, Jesse Marunde, Jon Anderson, Chad Coy and Mark Keshishian.

Celebrities including New York Giants offensive tackle Luke Petitgout, former Eagle Brian Baldinger, WIP-AM host Big Daddy Graham and Pretty Poison vocalist Jade Starling also will be on hand.
