WASHINGTON, DC.- During the December 2004 meeting, Wendel R. Swan of Alexandria, VA was appointed to Board of Trustees of The Textile Museum. Mr. Swan has been actively involved with The Textile Museum for more than 20 years, serving as a member of the Museum’s Advisory Council from 1997 to 2003. He is the president of the International Hajji Baba Society and formerly served as president of the Washington Textile Group. Mr. Swan serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Conference on Oriental Carpets (ICOC) and was chair of the Tenth ICOC held in Washington in 2003. He has collected rugs and textiles since 1968, is a contributing editor of Hali magazine and has been a frequent speaker at various rug conferences and to many rug societies.

Mr. Swan begins his tenure in January 2005 and will serve on various Committees of Museum’s Board of Trustees including Collections, and Exhibitions and Publications."
