Iran Daily - Arts & Culture - 08/06/05: "Kelim Exhibit in Isfahan

TEHRAN, Aug. 5--A specialized exhibit of Kelim will begin in Isfahan on Saturday and continue until August 18, reported ISNA.
The exhibit, which is being organized at Zendeh Roud Gallery, will present handicrafts produced by craftsmen from Isfahan.
Kelim, jajim, floor covering and hand-woven carpets all belong to the same category of art which also includes other manually woven handicrafts.
Iranian handicrafts have been enthusiastically received worldwide.
In recent years, a special kind of carpet called ’Gabbeh’ has been woven and a film by the same name was made by Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf and screened in some foreign countries.
Thanks to the innovative ideas of Iranians, some other magnificent carpets have attracted the attention of foreigners."
